About the Game
Battleship is basically a guessing game which is played among two players on a grid. It is one of the classic pencil and paper game dated back around the world war I, later adapted in various version finally in video games, smartphones, and other formats as well. The concept is to guess the positioning of opponents ships placed by them with the help of grid and attack. Guess right blocks where ships are placed will keep destroying opponents battleship and move onto next. Whosoever guesses and destroys all of the battleships first win the game.
Concept
The concept is a war on the sea, a battleship where two opponents are fighting on the blind spot where they cannot see each other ship in the sea. All they have to do is to make the right guesses, predictions, and strategy so they hit the right mark. You have to win before the opponent finds out all your positioning of ships and destroy it. It is more like a war strategy game played on the grid.
Design
The design of the game is pretty much basic yet contemporary. It consists of two plots as one is the grid on which the game is played and the second is the representation of your battleships in the sea against the enemy where you see the impact of the game. The game is available in two formats, classic and advance where you won’t find much difference except more detail in the advanced one. So that is what recommended to play. The grid is on which you hit the block to attack and then see whether the rockets from your battleships hit any hidden ships opponent or not. The sea representation is quite cool to see where the graphics are enough convincing with its explosions and attacking the ship.
Gameplay
The gameplay is layered into three co-existing levels where the first you will get to place your battleships of different capacities and surface areas on the grid. You have to drag and drop these ships on the grid in a strategic way. Try to place as if you are hiding it in the plain sight. Placement of the ships should be something unpredictable or at least not to easy to assume. Once you placed all your ships, you will be brought to the sea where the battle happens. You can see your ships in the on your side but cannot the opponents. Your opponent ( PC) and you both get one by one chance to attack with the help of the grid. You are supposed to predict the placement of the enemy’s ships on the grid and hit. You can see the impact in the sea whether it hit right and revealed as a tiny explosion or it just an empty water splash. Once you find out a ship, you can hit around it accordingly to destroy it completely. You can monitor your fleet and the damages on the screen shown
Tips to Play
1. Make sure with the placement of your ships on the grid. Keep changing your strategy and see how it reciprocates. Do not make it very much obvious.
2. While attacking and finding the spot on the grid, try to be consecutive and broad with your prediction. Avoid the very front lane and sharp corners at first. Do not waste the chances on least obvious spots. Try around the center points.
3. Once you hit a certain part of the opponent ship or say hit at the one block where enemy’s ship is placed, now make sure you discover the full surface area of the ship by hitting around. That will completely destroy the ship. Unless it is not completely destroyed, you won’t see red blocks with a cross sign on the boxes. cross boxes only mean you completely took down the ship.
