About the Game

Breakout is a popular and all-time favorite arcade game which is developed as well as published by Atari.Inc, released in 1976. It later becomes the rage in the arcade era of gaming along with games such as pong, space invaders and others.  Breakout has been a staple video game and also adapted into a variety of platforms ranging from game boy to online games today. The game was always about the layers of bricks at the top of the screen where gamers supposed to destroy it all. The ball hits these bricks to destroy falls back towards a paddle. Now prevent the ball from falling down, the paddles need to move. The basic concept of the game was always this which got adapted into multiple designs, style, and additional elements. However, the classic breakout game will be always better than those.

Design 

The design of the game has been put to the minimalist, however, it is still advanced the 8-bit or arcade version of the game. You will see the backdrop of the game is quite simplistic and least bothered by extra designs or addition in the style. The construction of the block design at the center of the screen which is supposed to be destroyed. It gets more complicated according to the level. The reduction of space between the paddle and the construction got increased at different levels.

Gameplay 

The gameplay of the breakout is ideal to the traditional breakout game people use to play primarily in the late 70s and 90s. You are supposed to destroy all those blocks in the constructions with the help of the bouncing ball and the movable paddle. You control this paddle, the movement of the paddle which allows the ball to strike back to the constructions and do not fall down. You need to make sure the ball doesn’t fall down because, after three such chances, you have to play the game all over again. The construction will get more complicated through different levels. It will make the ball more vulnerable for the fall as the distance between the construction and the paddle becomes less over the levels. You can choose a different level to play as well or if you get bored with the construction you have currently in the level.

Instructions 

Use the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move the paddle left and right respectively. Use SPACEBAR to start the game immediately and if you wish to regulate the level of the game or change the level, you can use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW key to regulate it.

Tips to Play

a) Watch out for the ball and do not lose the sight of it, even if you think it is dodging above and might come down late. Do not apply too much physics because apparently it is created by the computer algorithm, so kind of unpredictable.

b) Keep looking for the close space where there is not much distance between the construction and the paddle. Here the pace of the ball becomes fast as it strikes back to the paddle and construction very quickly due to less distance to cover. Here you find the maximum chances of getting fall back.
