- The popular game-cult character ‘ Mario’ first appeared in another well-known classic video game Donkey Kong. He is called there as ‘Jumpman’ where he was a carpenter instead of Plumber, as earlier known in Mario.
- When you say ‘Mario Brother’, it addresses both the Mario and his younger brother Luigi which means that Mario’s full name is Mario Mario as his last name is ‘Mario’.
- Luigi, known as Mario’s brother and used as Player 2 in the game Super Mario Bros. was supposed to be an exact copy of Mario. Apparently, when it comes to design his clothes, Nintendo couldn’t manage to get those colours as they didn’t have much memory to add colours or wasn’t much left in the palette. So basically, Luigi has borrowed his green colour from the green shell of Koopa.
- Mario has this huge moustache and a cap for a reason. The creator of the character was getting problems designing or drawing his hairs, so he decided to go for a cap. Similarly, he drew moustache as it was easier to appear on screen than a mouth.
- The real age of Mario is 25 years old according to their makers as mentioned in one of their interviews in 2005. Now you know he is not as old as you think he is.
- Mario was named after the landlord of the creator who was once barged into his office meeting to get his rent.

- In Japenese version of Mario, You can actually eat those dolphins which were immune by Yoshi’s tongue in US version of the game. It is because US citizens were quite attached to the Dolphins, so showing a game character to swallow dolphins wouldn’t have been a good move.
