Playing Flat 

By ‘playing flat’ it means you are supposed to drop the pieces in a way that it will create the flattest top row pieces. The more flat playing field, less likely chances of things getting stacked up quickly and reaching to the top which means game over. Also, this way you will have more chances or options to stack the pieces. Try not to stack the pieces more than two blocks. This is because if you have a hole deeper than three, there is no chance to fill those except the I-shaped piece. The great height of holes in your placement will be difficult to fill out.

Building Mounds In the Centre

No matter how many strategies you make, there will be time eventually when you will mound higher than two blocks. but make it biased to side can make it easier. This is highly suggested by the record-breaking champions in Tetris games. If you are playing Tetris NES, you better bias it to the left side of the screen but playing on the modern versions, go for the center.

Understand the Rotations

The faster and better you master the rotation system, the easier will be to cope with the gameplay of Tetris. There are different rotations systems depending upon the version you are playing whether it is NES, Atari, Gameboy, or some modern adaptation of it. So by playing it and understanding the specific nature and patterns of rotations, you can elevate your game. You have to learn the clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation of it, the amount of the spins, and other factors as well.

Faster Decision Making 

One thing that Tetris ask for is fast decision making, you have to be certain and make quick decision while the block pieces are moving downwards. You need to decide the placement, the rotation, and further strategies related to it. But you need to be quick at it. Too much worrying or overthinking will break your flow or lead to the bad placement of these pieces. Just try to drop the pieces at the best place you and build around it. Don’t overthink and get comfortable with making these fast decisions.

Hold Pieces To Score

You have to use the hold pieces to score, and don’t use them to fix the mistakes. In the tetris gameplay, you can save a piece to use it later and just move to the next available piece. Then you can even further replace it with a tetromino but the best way is to hold pieces is to go for the score, not just to escape the bad ones and go for the next. In case you want to hold pieces to recover from the damages or holes, hold the I-shaped ones, they are the best fill the holes, even the giant ones.
